Pre-Project

Prior to the inception of work all details of your project are confirmed and approved by you. Colors, start date, price, products... everything is solidified via email to reduce the possibility of miscommunication.

Pressure Wash

An important part of the initial prep stage, pressure washing your home creates a clean, debris-free surface that will enhance product adhesion and create a longer lasting bond to your home's surface. This is normally the first preparation step.

Scraping/Sanding

A crucial step in the preparation process, proper scraping of failed paint and subsequent sanding prepare the surface to accept product for maximum life and adhesion. We remove as much of the old, failed paint as possible and sand the surface to allow the paint to "bite" into the substrate.

Priming

Priming a fresh or damaged surface allows for both protection of the underlying substrate while providing maximum adhesion and reduce the potention for the paint to fail. Our standard practice is to prime exterior horizontal surface (such as window trim) with alkyd (oil based) primer to repel water encroachment as much as possible.

Caulking

Caulking is another crucial step in the successful preparation of a home. Perhaps the biggest factor in the life of the overall project, quality caulking must be applied correctly in all seams of the home where water may encroach and do damage over time. Patriot Painting uses 40 year latex caulking (unless otherwise specified) and caulks every seam for maximum protection.

Masking

Masking unpainted surfaces such as brick protects them from overspray while creating crisp, neat lines at the base of the color lines. A key to a professional results is the skill with which the masking is laid. We use only professional grade 3M products.

 Product Application

Once all preparation steps have been accomplished, Patriot Painting will apply your chosen product with a combination of spray and hand application techniques. We utilize only the best methodologies for applying the paint to the surface as recommended by the Paint & Decorating Contractors of America™. Your home will always get a MINIMUM of two coats of paint (more where priming is needed)...we put this guarantee in writing.

 Perimeter Cleanup

A clean work perimeter is important to our customers and is thus a priority with us. Patriot Painting crews will clean the work area DAILY and will give a thorough cleaning to the area once the project is nearing completion.

Walk Through

Your project is not finished until you say it is. We will do a thorough inspection of the project with you and touch up any missed areas immediately. Even after you've given your final OK, your project remains open in our log for 3 months in the event you see something that was missed in the final walk.
